Classic Apple Crisp Recipe
This crisp came together in our kitchen when we wanted something that celebrates the fruit itself—tender, caramelized apple slices beneath a buttery, golden topping that's satisfying without being fussy.
The beauty is in its simplicity: just flour, butter, and brown sugar worked together until they form perfect little crumbles that bake up crispy and sweet. A splash of our Original Apple Cider Vinegar brightens the fruit and helps the apples hold their shape as they slowly bubble away.

Ingredients:
FOR FRUIT:
- 5 lbs apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced (enough to fill a 9x13 baking dish)
- 2-3 tablespoons sugar
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons brandy, OR juice of 1 lemon, OR 2 teaspoons Apple Cider Vinegar
FOR TOPPING:
- 1¾ cups unbleached all-purpose flour
- 12 tablespoons (¾ cup) very soft butter
- ⅔ cup light or dark brown sugar
- 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
- ½ to 1 teaspoon cinnamon
Instructions: Preheat oven to 375°F and butter a 9x13 baking dish. Toss sliced apples with sugar, 2 tablespoons flour, and your choice of brandy, lemon juice, or Apple Cider Vinegar (add more sugar if you like it sweeter). Place in prepared pan.
In a mixer, combine 1¾ cups flour, brown sugar, granulated sugar, and cinnamon. Add soft butter and mix on low speed for about 5 minutes, until all butter is incorporated and mixture comes together in small crumbles. If it sticks to the bottom of the bowl, just break it up with your hands.
Sprinkle topping over fruit and press down gently. Bake for about 45 minutes, until apples are soft and juices are bubbling around the edges. Cool and serve warm or at room temperature. Heavy cream, whipped cream, or ice cream are optional!
