Holiday Poached Pears

Our Modern Mulling Spice makes a gorgeous poaching liquid for poached pears (or apples!).

Here's Joanne's recipe:


Choose firm, slightly under-ripe pears. Peel, leaving the stem intact. Make mulled wine or juice following the instructions on the jar of mulling spice. Lower the pears into the liquid and simmer the pears for 10-15 min. Test with a knife to see if they are done (They should be soft but not mushy) Serve warm with whipped cream, and top with chopped toasted almonds. Yum!
